Poster Child

Sorry that i do not have any new pics to go with this post, but there are a few stories i just HAD to share with everyone. Tanner has been making us so proud and happy lately (always happy!). He has been listening and obeying like no other. If I ask him to sit, he sits immediately; if we tell him "no" to something, he stops and walks away like "oh well, it was worth a try," and if he wants more of some food, like a cookie or something and they are gone or we feel he has had enough, we say "all gone" or "all done" and he throws his hands up in the air and says "all done" as if to say "oh well no big deal." He doesn't even get mad! The other day tanner was following me when i said "tanner we need to change your diaper." I picked up his wipes, turned around and there he was lying on the ground holding his feet up in the air for me to change him, with a big smile on his face. THEN, we have been watching Teletubbies before bedtime and at the end, this little microphone thing comes up in the air and says "Time for Telly bye-bye" 3 times. While the tv is saying that, we say "time for tanner night night" 3 times. Then we take him to bed, no fuss whatsoever. Last night and tonight, when that part came on he stopped dead in his tracks and said "night, night" and ran to his bedroom. We put him to bed and he was happy to do so even though he was all wound up and happy. I almost tear up at times, because he is just so amazing. While we do already mess up at many things in parenting, the one thing we TRY to do is to stay consistent and encourage him when he does listen to us. While we do feel the encouragement makes a big deal, more than anything we know that we have been blessed with an amazing gift from God. Tanner was just born the way he was--we just have to do what we can to keep him sweet :-) He is my lil angel!!!
Ok, so i have more stories. Tanner loves to get any kind of box out of the pantry and bring it to me saying either "cracka or cookoo (cracker and cookie). Yes, he does bring me the taco shells on a daily basis. Story # 2: Two different times in the past week i have let tanner sit up on the counter while i get ready for school and he just likes to play with stuff and ask "wah'ts that?". Well, the other day i heard him saying "up, up" and walked into our bathroom only to see that he pulled out the bottom drawer and was standing on it while trying to climb up onto the counter! Smart boy i tell ya! Story #3, some how tanner has learned to put the sentence of "i wanna... or i want" together. He says "i want my daddy," or "i wann sheeit" which sounds like "i wanna sh*t" and it means i wanna see it. We are not sure how he figured out to use the words together in the right context. OH and he also says "oh sheeit" really fast too, which sounds like that 4 letter S word again! We dont say that so we are not sure whats up with that. I think he is trying to say sit! Anyway, so my mom was dogsitting a 5 lb maltese and whenever i would hold the dog, tanner would get mad and yell "no, down" while running at me. If the dog did not get down, tanner would try to throw him on the floor or sit on him. WOW, what will we do with another baby in his territory?!!!!? However, a kitten, tanner would pick up and make sure i held it while holding him as well. If i put the kitten down, he would go pick it up and give it to me again. Not so sure how his brain works :-) Okie doke, hope you enjoyed the stories. I sure do enjoy being part of the making...
